- The Bible says that God created man in the image of God and then He formed man from the dust of the earth and he breathed into him and he became a living soul.
The word CREATE is
- When someone brings something in existence, something unique that has been produced for the first time.
- To bring into existence something new.
- To cause to come into being, as something unique that would not naturally evolve or that is not made by ordinary processes
The word FORM means
Make or be made into a specific shape
What I understand by this is that God created the spiritual being who is like him, and the process of forming is God bringing physical being, which translates to man being born in the earth.
- He created them in His own image after His likeness, man and woman he created them. Genesis one verse twenty seven
Human being:
The above scripture tells us that God created us, and not only did he create us he in his own image and his likeness. We all belong to a family of beings called Mankind. Human beings have a body, spirit and a soul.
What are some of the features that distinguish man from the rest of God’s creation?
Man has been unique even as from the very beginning. God created man different from every other creation.
- In Genesis 1:26 – 27, the Bible states that, before God created man, he consulted that man was to be like them. “Then God said, let us make man in our in image, according to our likeness…”
Mankind are distinguished from animals by superior mental development, power of articulate speech.
- Genesis 1:28, the Bible says, “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill he earth and subdue it…” God communicated to man after he created him, with the other creatures he did not.
Another feature that makes man unique, is that God breathed into his nostrils the ‘breathe of life’ and he became a living being. The scripture below shows that God breathed his divine life into man; he gave him his very life.
Gen.2:7 “From the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Gen.5:2 says, ‘He created them male and female and blessed them. When they were created, he called them humankind.
Genesis 1:27 says, So God created man in his own image, in the image if God he created him; male and female he created them.
The difficulty arises when defining what ‘created in God’s image’ actually means. God image involves the spiritual more than the physical. God is a spiritual being, and as human beings created in his image, so are we
God also formed the body of man:
The woman was created from the rib of the man. Gen. 2:22 says, “Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man and he brought her to the man”
God created the body of a man and he made it to function with all its systems which includes the soul. All he created he said it is good.
